Trump Reports Nvidia Stock Trades as Huang Set to Receive U.S. Science Medal
Trump’s latest financial disclosure shows Nvidia stock purchases and sales in August, as CEO Jensen Huang prepares to receive the National Medal of Science from the president.
U.S. President Donald Trump bought as much as $1.6 million worth of Nvidia stock and sold as much as $1 million in August, according to a financial disclosure released Thursday.
The disclosure comes as Trump prepares to present Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang with the National Medal of Science, the highest U.S. honour for scientific achievement.
Trump’s Nvidia transactions
The Nvidia transactions were among hundreds of trades reported by Trump for August. The disclosure was signed by the president on September 17 and made public on Thursday.
The filing does not give the exact value of each transaction but reports investment ranges. Trump’s Nvidia purchases were valued between $1 million and $1.6 million, while his sales were valued between $500,000 and $1 million.
The transactions have drawn attention because the Trump administration is weighing policies that could shape Nvidia’s fortunes, including rules governing exports of its advanced chips.

All investment decisions are made entirely by independent managers,” Ingle said, adding that there are no conflicts of interest.
Huang to receive National Medal of Science
Huang is set to receive the National Medal of Science from Trump on Thursday at the White House’s “Science: A New Golden Age summit.
The award recognizes Americans who have made outstanding contributions to knowledge in the physical, biological, mathematical, engineering, or social and behavioral sciences.
Trump is also scheduled to present the National Medal of Science to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Google co-founder Sergey Brin and AMD CEO Lisa Su. Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella are set to receive the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
Nvidia joins Trump’s new science initiative
The timing of the award comes as the Trump administration announces more than $6 billion in investments involving the federal government, industry, academia and philanthropy as part of a broader push to accelerate scientific research.
Nvidia is among the companies participating in the Genesis Mission Consortium. The White House said Nvidia has committed $1 billion in support for science tools and computing credits for the initiative, which involves more than 15 federal agencies.
The Genesis Mission is designed to use artificial intelligence, computing infrastructure and scientific data to accelerate research across areas including health, energy, space and manufacturing. The White House said the initiative received $2.4 billion in industry commitments from 11 companies, including Nvidia, AMD, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and others.
The Trump administration has also taken action on advanced computing chips. In January, it imposed a 25% tariff on certain advanced computing chips, including Nvidia’s H200, while exempting imports used for purposes such as U.S. data centers, research and development, startups, and other activities considered supportive of the U.S. technology supply chain.
The administration said it could consider broader tariffs on semiconductors after trade negotiations.
For Nvidia, the combination of growing government-backed demand for AI computing and evolving U.S. semiconductor policies put the company at the centre of the administration’s broader technology and science agenda.
